A Guided Tour of the exhibit "Art & Industry in Early America, Rhode Island Furniture, 1650-1830" with special "behind-the-scenes" tour of the Furniture Study

Thursday January 5, 2017

FREE to CLHO members; $15.00 non-members  (Registration is limited to the first 40 registrants)

During the colonial and Federal periods, Rhode Island was the center of a dynamic and active cabinetmaking trade, and its makers produced some of the most iconic pieces of American furniture ever created.

Join CLHO members for a dual tour of the exhibit "Art & Industry in Early American, Rhode Island Furniture, 1650-1830" led by historian Bill Hosley, and the Furniture Study collection, led by Patricia Kane, Curator of American Decorative Arts. This special tour is open to CLHO members free of charge. (Reminder! Institutional membership covers five staff or volunteers.) Registration is limited to 40 people, so register early.

Registrants will meet in the lobby of the Art Gallery at 1111 Chapel Street in New Haven.

Suggested parking is the Chapel-York Garage, 150 York Street, a half block south of the Art Gallery on York Street. If you become free members of the Art Gallery by completing a membership form, you can have your parking ticket validated and be charged 1/2 price for the parking (typically $5). Bring your parking ticket to the Gallery to be validated. There is also on-street parking for which one needs quarters ($1.25/hr). Parking patrols will ticket until 8:00 pm.
